There are over 500 million daily Instagram users worldwide, and it is the sixth most used social media platform to share audio, video and pictures. The average number of photos shared on Instagram each day is 80 million, and 100 million stories are uploaded every day. Even so, sometime when trying to publish a post on Instagram, you might run into the following error: “Not Posted Yet. Try Again”.
Having trouble posting images on Instagram can be extremely frustrating. You would hope to get alot of likes for your picture if you spent hours editing it. There could be several reasons behind this, including lack of storage space, data settings, account restrictions, or problems with the network connection or cookies.
Here is some information that might help you if your situation is also similar. If this is case for you, no matter what, don’t worry about it! The following article will help you fix an error that appears when a post cannot be published on Instagram: “Not Posted Yet. Try Again“.
How to Fix Instagram “Not Posted Yet. Try Again” Error on Android
Solution 1: Close all background apps
You should only run Instagram on your device whenever you’re adding a new post. To close all running apps, press the Home key and swipe up. If you are able to publish your post after doing that, you need to check that.
Solution 2: Clear your Instagram cache
With the cache, you will be able to browse faster. It give users a better browsing experience. The cache stores the webpages you visit and makes future visits faster by storing them in temporary memory. As a consequence of the temporary data stored on your phone, there is a good chance that you cannot upload photos and videos to IG. In order to fix it, you will have to clear the app cache data. Here are the steps:
- Go to the Settings of your device.
- Click on “All Applications” from the Applications menu.
- Go to “Instagram” and tap on it.
- On the next screen, tap “Storage”, and then tap “Clear cache”.

Solution 3: Make sure your network connection is working
Instagram doesn’t post sometimes for various reasons, one of which is an internet connection. In certain cases, Instagram will not allow you to post because of a bad connection. Hence, before you upload photos or videos to Instagram, ensure your internet connection is fast. Prior to using the Instagram app on Android device, you should always turn on your data. Additionally, you can try resetting your Wi-Fi if you are using it.
A network error that occurs on a device can be rectified by using these troubleshooting steps. If your Android phone shows the error Instagram ‘Not posted yet. Try again‘ try disabling and enabling the Internet.
- Find the Wi-Fi icon on your phone by swiping up or down. Navigate to Settings > Connections > Networks
- You will see a list of all available networks in Wi-Fi settings. Find out which network is causing the authentication error and tap on it. In the image below, you see two options you have once you tap on it. There are two options here, Forget network or Change password.
- Tap on the Forget network option.
- Then, tap Refresh. All wireless networks within range will be listed, including those you disabled previously.
- Please select the network you would like to connect to. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network by typing the network name and password again.
By now the Instagram Not Posted Yet Try Again error should have been fixed otherwise try one of the following options.
Solution 4: A reboot will fix the problem
- Hold down the Power button for a few seconds. Afterward, If you would like to turn your Android device off, or reboot it, you can do so by choosing either Power Off or Reboot.
Please Note: There are different interfaces on different devices, so make sure you choose wisely.
- Click Reboot. It will then start again after a few seconds and go back to normal.
Solution 5: Reducing the file size
Uploading your camera’s photo usually causes this issue. There is a maximum file size limitation on Instagram that a lot of people are unaware of. Not Posting Yet, Try Again’ errors will appear when posts exceed the file size limit on Instagram. It isn’t uncommon for this error to occur when uploading 4K or UHD files, upload time may be longer or there may be no upload at all.
Basically, pictures should have a resolution of 1936 x 1936 pixels, whereas videos should be at a resolution of 1080p, using the H.264 format and MP4 codec.
Using a software program or an application on your computer or mobile device, you can compress the picture or video file. Next, try posting it to your Instagram account.
Solution 6: Update Instagram Application
In case you don’t have the latest Instagram version, updating the app may fix the Instagram “Not Posted Yet. Try Again” error. Instagram’s technical glitches can be resolved by applying this quick fix. Go to the App Store, locate Instagram app, tap “Update” and follow the instructions. Here are some easy steps you can follow:
- On your device, open the “Play Store” application and tap on your profile photo.
- In the menu list, select My apps & games.
- You can now find Instagram by opening the Installed applications tab.
- Last but not least, tap Update if your app isn’t up to date.
The Update option will not be available if you are already running the latest version. There is instead a button for Open the application. This will allow you to determine whether or not your application is using the latest version.
Solution 7: Reinstall Instagram App
Install Instagram again if it doesn’t work. The Uninstall option will appear when you hold down the app icon for a few seconds. Once that has been done, download the app again from the Play Store. Tell us if this problem is fixed.

You should always make sure not to consume too much data while using Instagram. In some cases, excess data usage can make it difficult to post on Instagram. Here are the steps you can follow to ensure you do not run into data usage issues on Instagram:
- In the bottom right corner of the Instagram app, tap on your profile photo.
- At the top right corner, select the three-dash icon to navigate to the Settings menu.
- Click on Account. Then click Cellular Data Settings.
- Turn ON the Data Saver option if you haven’t already. This strategy eliminates the need to load the video in advance, thus using less data.
Solution 9: Remove third-party applications
Is your Instagram account logged into by third-party apps? There is sometimes an issue with third-party apps violating Instagram’s terms of service or policies, preventing you from posting (or even following) on the platform.
Installing unverified apps on your device is always a bad idea. It is highly recommended that you uninstall any third-party apps on your device to restore its normal functionality. You can clear up space on your device by uninstalling unwanted apps:
- Go to your phone’s settings. Click on the appropriate application.
- You will now see a list of options. Select Installed Applications from the drop-down list.
- Locate apps that you no longer need. You can now remove the app from your phone by tapping on it.
- In the final step, tap Uninstall.
If there are any apps that no longer need to be downloaded or appear untrusted, repeat the above steps.
Note: Settings options vary from one smartphone manufacturer to another. Make sure you know which settings to change before making any changes.
Solution 10: Clear device storage space
Instagram doesn’t let you post your Instagram stories/feeds if your storage space is almost full. It might be a good idea to remove unnecessary files and cache from the device. In just a few minutes, you will have some space freed up for Instagram, along with the ‘Not Posted Yet. Try Again‘ error.
As an alternative, you can also try transferring your apps to an SD card. In this way you will free up a large portion of the phone’s internal storage. Although very few multimedia files and apps may take up a lot of storage space, they may affect syncing. Delete files and applications you hardly use so that you can free up space.
Alternatively, you can move the apps to an SD card if you have expandable storage. Using an external memory card has this advantage as well. Transferring applications from the internal memory of an Android device to an SD card is as simple as following these steps.
If the application supports the storage switching feature, then the method will work. The SD card can be used as an internal storage device for apps that cannot support integrated storage. This saves internal storage space by storing all apps and multimedia files. Unless you format the SD card, you are limited to using it with that specific phone until you use it.
Please Note: It is possible that some SD cards take a long time to process. Make sure you choose an SD card fast enough to sustain maximum system performance before you use it as internal storage.
Erase SD card
- Insert the SD card into your device.
- Go to the “Settings” of your device.
- The screen will display a list of settings. Select RAM and storage space.
- Click the SD card and then select “Erase SD card”.
- A warning will appear on the screen following the next step: ‘This operation will erase the SD card.’ You will lose data!’. Click on “Erase SD card” to perform the action.
- The SD card is now available for storing files and apps.
When the size of your Instagram file will comply with the limits set by Instagram, you can post your content to it once you have enough disk space available.
Solution 11: Update the operating system
- Click on Settings and then “About phone” option on your smartphone.
- You can check if any updates are available by tapping on “System update“.
- Now check if any updates for Android device is available or Not. Please update if there is any.
- Your Android device is going to be updated. Relaunch Instagram once it has completed the update. Try this first to fix the Instagram uploading problems, or contact Instagram’s customer service center if this doesn’t work.
Solution 12: Post no sensitive content
The Instagram app does not let you upload photos or videos. Any material violating the Instagram app’s terms of service and policy will not be published. Nudity is, for example, considered obscene, so Instagram can put restriction on your account if you engage in it. The following are examples of such content:
- Content which is “Abusive“.
- Age-restricted or NSFW content.
- Content that poses a threat to society, such as discussions about violence and other sensitive contents.
You will be banned from Instagram for 24 hour, so you cannot upload anything until your suspension is lifted. In this timeframe, try not to share posts/stories/feeds related to these topics.
Check your post for sensitive information before publishing it. If this is the case, the problem of Instagram’s “Not Posted Yet. Try Again” will appear. Repost the post after removing the sensitive content
Method 13: Until restrictions are lifted, wait
In order to filter spammers, Instagram offers Restriction features. Using multiple Instagram accounts or not having a reliable Instagram profile tend to cause the ‘I cannot post any feed on Instagram’ issue.
- On your device, log out of Instagram and close the app.
- Attempt to post your content on another mobile or computer by logging into the same account..
- It indicates that your account is restricted if you still can’t post to Instagram. It is not possible to take action in this scenario unless the restrictions are lifted.
Pro Tip: Removing all links from your bio will also help you combat this. A second option would be to chat with someone on your friend list, or to keep engaging with the site until you get the problem resolved.
Method 14: Get in touch with Instagram Support
There is a possibility that the Instagram application is experiencing a technical error if none of the above methods work. Send a support ticket to Instagram and describe your problem. They will make the necessary corrections from their end.
