FromSoftware just released a new Elden Ring update 1.10.1 on January 11, 2023, mainly focusing on improving anti-cheat measures for Steam users. Despite being a small update, it reflects FromSoftware’s dedication to fine-tuning the game and ensuring a fair online environment for PC players. Cheating has been a problem, especially in multiplayer modes, so this update aims to strengthen Elden Ring’s defenses against cheats and hacks.

Elden Ring Update 1.10.1 Patch Notes Details

The January 11 Elden Ring patch contains just one change – an update to Easy Anti-Cheat to better support Steam OS.

Easy Anti-Cheat is a third-party anti-cheating software that Elden Ring uses to detect hackers and prevent unfair play. With update 1.10.1, Easy Anti-Cheat has been optimized to work smoothly with Steam’s operating system.

No other bug fixes, gameplay changes, or content additions are included in this patch. The sole focus is improving anti-cheat integration on PC.

Why Anti-Cheat is Important for Elden Ring

FromSoftware emphasized that Elden Ring would have stronger anti-cheating mechanisms compared to the Dark Souls series. However, cheating still emerged as an issue during Elden Ring’s launch period.

Some players used exploits like infinite health, one-hit kills, and animation speed hacks to gain an advantage over others. This understandably drew frustration from the Elden Ring community.

Applying consistent anti-cheat updates is vital to ensure fair and enjoyable online play. With a massive open world and extensive multiplayer integration, limiting cheating was an important goal for Elden Ring. Regular patches like 1.10.1 show FromSoftware’s continued efforts on this front.

When is Update 1.10.1 Available?

Elden Ring update 1.10.1 is rolling out now on Steam. The new patch should be live for all Steam users as of January 11, 2023.

Be sure to install the latest update before jumping into online play. Easy Anti-Cheat will then have the revisions in place to better detect cheating on Steam OS systems.

Unfortunately, it appears this update is currently only available on PC. The patch notes don’t indicate any changes for Xbox or PlayStation platforms today. We’ll have to wait and see if similar anti-cheat improvements come to consoles in future Elden Ring updates.
