Last year, during IFA event, Google announced an Ambient mode feature for the Google Assistant. Ambient Mode is a “proactive” Google Assistant experience that is available whenever the device is being charged.  With the use of this feature, any Android smartphone or tablet can be turned into a smart display. You can use the smart display to show “proactive” information from your calendar, the current weather, notifications, reminders, music controls, smart home controls and more.

You can also show a photo slideshow on your Android’s Google Photos. Initially, this feature was only available on two tablets and two smartphones as — the Lenovo Smart Tab M8 HD, Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab and the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2. At the moment, this feature is finally rolling out to OnePlus smartphones as well (OnePlus 3 and above).

When you activate this feature, you can quickly perform typical functions of Google’s digital assistant. You will be able to discover information on calendar appointments, the weather, access a series of shortcuts to control smart devices in the home, set a new alarm, Quickly access the camera and more.

At this time, we learn that even OnePlus has finally finished the porting of the function within its smartphones and will soon be available for smartphones by Chinese companies.

How to activate Ambient Mode on OnePlus Smartphone

Google Assistant’s Ambient Mode will be available starting from OnePlus 3 and above. We are very pleased to find support for a smartphone that was released 4 years ago. Here how you can activate. Just go through these simple steps below:

  • connect your OnePlus smartphone to the charger;
  • start the enabling process of the Ambient Mode following the activation notification;
    • or enable the function from the Google App > Assistant> Phone.

At the moment, the function is in the rollout phase, so it could arrive on your smartphones in the next few hours. OnePlus confirms, however, that all supported phones will receive it within a week.
