The patent was filed in October last year and was published in June this year. So, It is possible that we could see Smartphones with a rollable display. LetsGoDigital shared the 3D render based on the roller screen patent which looks very interesting. The patent shows a device that is the size of a smartphone. It becomes larger than the size tablet when its rollable form expanded. You can see in the patent images if you have less space to carry, you can roll it up; if you need more, you can expand it all. It shows more manual control over the display and that is very unique concept for future smartphones

Along with LG, Samsung has also filed a patent for a rollable display which can be activated by fingerprint. In addition, this LG “roller screen” can be used not only in mobile phones but also on television.
