Huawei Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G got its first EMUI software update, brings Link Turbo feature

Earlier December, Huawei unveiled Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G at an event in China. Both new Nova-series smartphones have the specifications, except the Balong 5000 5G modem that is limited Nova 6 5G.

Huawei Nova 6 series runs the open-source Android 10 based EMUI 10 and now the company pushed its very first software update with new improvements and features in China. The latest EMUI update brings Link Turbo network aggregation technology, adds support for multiple applications, and few more recommended features for Nova 6 lineup.

This technology combines Wi-Fi and LTE signals to provide much faster download speeds and makes switching from one signal to the other seamless to maintain the signal strength. The new update also brings optimizes camera photo effects with more realistic colors and optimizes system stability.

The first system update brings EMUI version 10.0.1.135 upgraded from EMUI 10.0.0.123, for Huawei Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G. It is in around 592 MB in size.

Below is the official changelog shared by Huawei on its Chinese community platform (translated from Chinese):

  • Link Turbo: Huawei’s full network convergence acceleration technology (Link Turbo) added support for multiple applications (settings> mobile networks> network acceleration)
  • Camera: Optimize the results from your camera, photo color more real, natural
  • System: Optimize system stability, make your phone run more stable

This is a OTA update and will be deliver in batches. It will take some time in hitting all the units. However, users can manually check for the update by heading to System>>Software update>>Check for updates

How the Link Turbo Works?

“Leveraging AI and big data technologies, Link Turbo automatically analyze users’ usage models and network conditions to figure out the best way to deliver an optimal result, and switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi or 4G networks to boost downloading speed by simultaneously adopting both networks.”  Source

In very simple terms, Link Turbo improves the network connectivity by smartly switching between WiFi and 4G networks. Gamers won’t suffer any headaches while streaming as switching from one signal to the other will be a seamless operation.

Having Link Turbo feature in phone you can to manually set different networks for selected apps. For example, you can set WiFi for heavy data-using apps like gaming apps or torrent and set mobile data for banking and other data-lite apps.
