Deep Rock Galactic is a popular co-op first-person shooter by Ghost Ship Games, but it’s not without its flaws. One of the most distracting issues that players run into is “screen distortion,” which can make it difficult to enjoy the game and play well.
While playing the game on high or ultra graphic settings, the screen distorts whenever there’s an explosion, such as when EPC or Exploder, etc. However, reducing the effects of explosions fixes this issue by removing other fancy visual effects. Well, that’s what happens when you cram too many fancy visual effects into one game. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to fix this problem. Here are some steps for troubleshooting:
Deep Rock Galactic: Guide on How to Remove Screen Distortion Without Lowering Graphic Effects
Solution 1: Go to Engine.ini File
- Close DRG program.
- DRG Right click -> Manage -> Browse local files -> FSD/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/Engine.ini
- In Engine.ini file, type the following:
Save and Close the File
- Texture Resolution: High
- Shadow Quality: Low
- Anti-Aliasing Quality: Low
- Post Processing: Low
- Effects: High
- View Distance: High
Leave HDR Output as it is.
After save and close it, Start DRG and set effects to high/ultra. Check the top of the drop pod in Space Rig. If there’s no screen distortion, you’re done!
That’s it! Hopefully this guide helps you get rid of the screen distortion issue. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. Any bug discoveries, post them below as well! Happy mining everyone!
